Baby Aria {Milestone ~ 7 months}

I first met Aria’s family last year when I did their maternity portraits. I knew I was going to love photographing her right then because, well, her parents are beautiful people! I knew she was going to be a stunner! After she was born I visited them for a lifestyle newborn session at her grandmother’s home - the light was gorgeous there!

Aria’s mother contacted me a few weeks ago wanting to do her milestone session - she had purchased one of my Milestone packages and had decided now was a good time for her next portraits. When you are as beautiful as baby Aria you don’t need much but, mom showed up with a couple of outfits and a favorite bunny plush to add a little extra personality to her session. Little did I know that this nugget had smiles (and lashes) for days!

The request was a simple backdrop, so baby was the star of the images. We opted for my brick studio wall, and I think we got exactly what we were after. I absolutely can’t wait to see her in a few short months to capture her smashing her cake AND to meet her baby sister who will be arriving shortly BEFORE her first birthday! Enjoy this little sweethearts images, and check out those eyes!

North Georgia Photographer {Baby Melissa ~ Newborn}

Ever since this sweet baby girl came to see me I have had that old Allman Brothers song “Sweet Melissa” stuck in my head. How sweet she was! Melissa came to see me at 9 days old and was fantastic! She let me do all of the poses I wanted her to - until the end when we undressed her…she was not excited about those! Even though I heat my studio to a toasty 80 degrees and have a heater close by for extra warmth, some babies just aren’t into it! I kept trying and finally she let me get that coveted shot, right at the end of our session!

My sessions typically include about 3 to 4 different set ups, depending on what time allows. Melissa was happy to appease, as long as she was swaddled warm and tight! Check out a few more images from her sweet newborn session!

All you have to do to book is email me and let me know your due date and that you would like to book a newborn session with me. At that point I will send a retainer fee invoice that once paid will put you on my schedule! But don’t worry, we only schedule tentative dates until baby arrives and then we adjust accordingly since babies are so unpredictable. North Georgia Photographer {Valentine’s Day Box Minis}

For Valentine’s day I really wanted to do something a little bit different - Something cute and simple but fun and original. I had seen these “In the Box” type session before and had wanted to try them for a while so I thought this might be the perfect opportunity to give it a go!

The first thing I discovered was that these were NOT as simple as I had imagined. It involved a lot more than just snapping a picture and adding some creative touches in photoshop. When editing on a grid there were details involved like alignment, making sure the shadows were all the same, keeping all the measurements equal and measuring each image while it is being shot in order for them to line up later - for example the fishing and grabbing of the heart.

Once I had everything figured out and had practiced a few on my own kids, I felt I was ready, and opened up a few sessions to some of my clients! These were super fun because the kids got to actually sit in a cube and use their imaginations! We definitely have some future actors in our hands!

Once again keeping the props simple for this session allowed a touch of whimsy without overwhelming the images. The pops of red were beautiful again the bright white backdrop and, of course, the adorable children were the cherry on top! Have a look for yourselves and see what you think!

North Georgia Photographer {Glitter Mini Sessions}

So every year I get really brave and host “Glitter Minis” in my studio. I mention bravery because, as most of us know, glitter is the gift that keeps on giving… Have you ever heard the quote “she leaves a little sparkle wherever she goes”? Well, that is my studio and everything around it… for weeks - BUT the images are gorgeous and magical and its so worth it!

I love simple photography - meaning I don’t like to use too many props and prefer my subject to be the star. Glitter minis are the perfect example of this! A plain dark backdrop and A LOT of gold glitter, a super adorable model and VOILA! you have yourself a gorgeous portrait! For these minis I hosted one full day - set up my studio for some glitter damage - put out my dress wardrobe and collection of tiaras, crowns and the like and we were off!

The girls all had a great time after they realized that is was “ok” to play in and throw around the glitter! I know a few moms got requests for an encore once they got home (sorry about that!). Once we were done the end results were amazing! Beautiful, simple, elegant portraits that would look amazing adorning your daughter’s playroom or bedroom walls… See for yourselves!

North Georgia Photographer { "Jams ~ 9 month Milestone}

My journey with sweet little Jameson, “Jams”, began long ago. It all began about there years ago, when I photographed her parents engagement and wedding. Now, I am not a wedding photographer but, these are good friends and their wedding was a small and intimate one so, I made the exception!

Fast forward to 9 months ago when I sat in the hospital room with her parents, anxiously awaiting her arrival. I was prepped and ready to capture her birth - arriving at the hospital close to midnight. Unfortunately 5 hours or so later she was delivered by emergency c-section and so that stage of her life I could not photograph. She then came to my studio for her newborn portraits a few days later and now I can hardly believe she is here for a 9 month milestone. Its unbelievable how quickly time passes!

Her mom wanted something a little different, so rather than portraits in pretty dresses we decided on a fruit bath. Jams, dressed in her birthday suit and red bandana a la “Rosie the Riveter” - was placed in a warm bath with fresh strawberries for the most adorable photoshoot!

Enjoy these adorable shots from that session! If you’ll excuse me, I’m in the mood for some toast… with strawberry jam.

North Georgia Photographer / Sophia

I first met Sophia when she came to me last year for her Cake Smash session upon turning one. When her mom contacted me about her two year milestone I just about fell out of my chair… has it been a year already?! Her mom wanted simple and clean studio portraits and specifically mentioned wanting a floral swing. Lucky for her I had one in my prop room that I had made years before. It had been a while since I used it and I was excited to take it out of retirement!

Sophia walked into the studio full of confidence with a smile that could brighten anyone’s day! She and her mom picked out one of my very favorite dresses from my studio wardrobe and then, paired with cute little bare feet, we were ready to begin! When we placed her on the swing - with mom holding onto her the whole time - she because a bit nervous since the swing is suspended from the ceiling, but after a few minutes her confidence grew!

Once we captured a few with the floral swing I remembered a macrame swing I also had! I thought she might be more comfortable in that since it was more of a “bucket seat”, so we decided to give that one a try, with huge success! We finished our session with a few classic, clean shots in front of my studio brick wall. With diffused natural light it casts a creamy, etherial glow on my subjects and for that reason its become one of my favorite of my studio backdrops. I absolutely love the end results of this session! They are feminine and whimsical and highlight Sophia’s beautiful little face and show off her big personality! Happy 2nd birthday little one! I hope your birthday candles bring you everything you wish for!
